Hi, my name is Justin Kent.

Throughout my life, I’ve been involved with a wide variety of undertakings. But the thread that runs through them is my love of building things on the Internet. Making web sites is my passion. Not just any websites… sites that are fast, efficient, and accomplish the goals of the owner. Of course, no website is perfect. But I strive to do things the ‘right’ way, and the best within a given timeframe and budget.

My goal is to create websites that are:

  • functional
  • reliable
  • easy to update
  • simple to understand
  • load quickly, and
  • get fantastic search results

Most of all, I like to teach people about the web, and to show them the best way to do things. I created my first website in 1995, and I’ve learned a lot of lessons over the years. Since then, I’ve even gotten a degree from MIT in Computer Science – but still, everything I learned online, I learned through trial and error. So I pride myself in learning from my mistakes, and in constantly refining my techniques.

The goal of this site is to teach you those lessons. I want people who are interested in the web, who are tech savvy but maybe not experts, to find practical guides here to achieving their maximum potential online.

Over the years, I’ve refined a pretty good system for rolling out simple, yet highly functional websites. You don’t need a lot of bells and whistles to create a good site. You really just need a subject that you’re passionate about, and the drive to put a lot of time and dedication into creating the content. The content is the star, not the site itself. After all, that’s why people come to your site: the content. That’s what search engines like about your site: the content. Without good content, you can’t create a good site. And good content takes time to generate: it’s not like you write a check to a designer and BOOM, it’s done. It could take months or years for your site to fulfill it’s true potential, to become the site you imagine it to be. Therefore, a solid foundation is even more important, because hopefully you’ll be building on it for a very long time.

Your website is your digital home, and it’s a place you should take pride and comfort in. Your website is an online extension of yourself. Therefore, you owe it to yourself to make it the absolutely best it can be, and I would humbly like to help you do that. If you’re anything like me, you’ll have a lot of fun getting there!
